Beauty and Brains

This is an Diesel jeans advertisement. This ad is very stereotypical because not only is it a girl doing this brave but 'stupid' act; but a blonde. It's a very popular stereotype that blondes are stupid and have more fun. But this is just a myth that society has made popular. Your hair color doesn't determined how your charter is and your actions.

The direct message of this advertisement is that if you wear Diesel jeans you will be braver.

The indirect message is that if you wear Diesel jeans you'll be cool, more outgoing maybe even more popular.

This ad is very misleading because you can be smart, beautiful, crazy and brave! It's just your personality, you are who you are.

I Love Candy!

The Great Candy Battle

It's the battle between candy brands; M&M's versus Starbust.

The superior candy is M&M's because its not sticky, it's made with real chocolate and makes you happy!

M&M's not being sticky is an advantage because it makes eating easier. Unlike Starbust that gets gooey overtime, M&M's doesn't make a mess. This makes it easier for little kids  to eat without increasing the stress on parents.

M&M's are made with real chocolate. This is great because this means it's giving you more nutrition than other sugar based candies. Chocolate is rich with minerals especially dark chocolate  which is a good source of iron.

It's proven that chocolate makes you happy! Chocolate has endorphins,  which causes your brain to release "happy feelings" Even though this is not a well known fact, many people have experience this light-hearted feeling.

Starbursts lovers claim that their intense, different flavors makes this candy greater than others. However, this is a wrong opinion because there is nothing special about the flavors. The majority of the flavors taste nothing like the fruit. Also the intensity is not strong all the flavors taste the same. This is why M&M's are better.

Elephants! Gentle Giants

What is an elephant?

In the oxford dictionary it reads, an elephant is a very large gray or grayish brown animal with a long flexible trunk, prominent ears, thick legs, and pointed tusks. Something the dictionary doesn’t state is that these enchanting creatures’ emotions seem like our own, so heartbreakingly close to human sorrow, grief and happiness. Also that elephants are endangered and need our help. Not only should we care because of their similar emotions but also because of its effects on some countries economics and wellbeing, ethnics, morals and because we strive to be global citizens.  Elephants affect the economic wellbeing of Kenya. Money from tourism brings in almost 900 million U.S dollars. A loss of elephants means a loss of money in some places in the world. Killing for wealth is unethical, elephants are sentimental and emotional beings with vast knowledge that they pass on to their young. An elephant killed means a great loss to the herd. It’s morally wrong to hurt elephants. They have the right to life, who are we to dictate the importance of a species. Lastly as global citizens we should be aware of the endangerment of animals and how these animals play a part of society. There are those who might say that since the elephant is not indigenous to their environment it does not have a direct effect to them. This is a false accusation   because we coexist in a lone immense ecosystem and if one animal becomes extinct it leaves an avalanching affect. In that an invisible scar on the earth.

I believe that we should care about the wellbeing of these gentle giants!

I believe that we can change the outcome of history!

I believe we can be the voices of these animals!
In this video you see a infant elephant's first steps.  In the back you see the mother trying to teach the infant how to walk. This video is so heartwarming and also proves how similar elephants actions are to our own.
How can you not care about these beautiful creatures?

Many People believe that by 2015 elephants will be extinct!!

..... A mother's love......
This is a video of a mother saving her drowning baby. This video tugged at my heart strings. The entire time I contemplated if they were going to survive.

How can you be cruel to animals just trying to live in peace. They have family too!

Save the elephants, because they exist they matter!

Ads, Ads, Ads and more Ads!

We as consumers see, read advertisements everywhere! On the television, magazines, newspaper even online while we're surfing the web. Advertisements duty is to capture our attention, whether it's in an emotional, logical or ethical way. These are called Appeals, there are three Appeals; Ethos, Pathos, Logos. The following Ad is from WWF, I believe this Ad is Ethos.

Ethos meaning is it ethical, asks the question; is it the right/ wrong choice? The Ad makes the reader feel like 'if I don't stop doing what I am doing, then the environment will change me.' Also it makes you think back to all the bad choices you made that may have effected the climate.  This is why I believe this Ad is Ethos.
